Shawn Williams (stage name Shawn Foxx) is one of four talented young singer/ songwriter/ musicians apart of Long Island's upcoming male R&B group — Exit 21. Shawn's knack for creating rhythmic music with flawless choreography compliments his well dressed style which has set him apart from the norm. A childhood friend of mine, and natural creative, I briefly sat down with Shawn to discuss his take on fashion.
Jonathan Mckinnon: Describe your perfect outfit for the day.
Shawn Foxx: My perfect outfit for the day would be a nice fitted tee shirt, ripped denim pants, and foreign footwear to match.
You have an expansive collection of "Dad Hats." Name your top three go to Dad Hats when leaving the house.
I feel that a hat can make the most of your outfit if worn correctly. That said, I always go for three distinct hat colors: black, red, and blue denim. I'm an avid fan of the fashion label — Live Life Superior, so you'll see me sportin' their hat designs often.
What fashion brands do you gravitate toward when doing interviews, photo-shoots, and music videos?
Honestly, I'm a fan of all fashion brands, too many to name, so it can be difficult at times. I'm a strong believer in the saying, "You make your outfit", so I focus more on how I can put together an aesthetically pleasing outfit rather than wear a bunch of different fashion labels.
I often see you with four gold chains as I'm sure they all symbolize something. What is your most recent gold chain, and what's the meaning behind it?
I recently sold my Egyptian Ankh gold chain, and replaced it with a Buddha gold chain. Why a Buddha gold chain you may ask? Well, I'm also a strong believer in peace and love, so I felt that Buddha (a gold one at that) would best represent my positivity.
You know how to look fresh for any occasion, especially when I see you in passing on Long Island, NY. What clothing stores do you frequent for an appealing wardrobe?
Your photo-shoot for fashion label — Black Pyramid was recently featured on Chris Brown's Instagram page. Do you plan on collaborating with any other fashion brands in the near future as you expand your music career?
I plan on having my own fashion brand/ clothing line in the near future as Exit 21's music following increases. At this time I don't have an exact name for my fashion brand, but in time I do expect it to become well known within the music industry.
