How to hand sew Ralph Lauren patches:

1. To hand sew a patch you will need a needle, thread and thimble.

2. First, place the patch on the garment where you want it to go and attach with pins to keep the patch stable.

3. Next, do a basic running stitch around the edge of the patch.

How to iron on Polo patches:

1. Prep the iron with no water and steam option off.

2. Position the patch. It’s best to clean and iron the area before applying the patch.

3. Use a pressing cloth to protect the fabric and leather’s surface (you can also use a cotton pillowcase or handkerchief) between the patch and iron.

4. Press the iron downward and hold it in place for 15-30 seconds (you can also use your best judgement for time). Be careful not to move the iron around since this can inadvertently shift the position of the patch.

5. Flip and repeat once the patch is affixed to the fabric. Turn the item of clothing inside out and lay it flat on your ironing board. Be sure to position the pressing cloth over the reverse side of the patch and repeat step four.

6. Once the patch is securely attached to the garment, allow it to cool completely before wearing.

How to machine sew a Polo patch:

1. First, place the patch on the garment where you want it to go and attach with pins to keep the patch stable.

2. Get your sewing machine ready by preparing a heavy duty needle. 

3. Next, the color of thread should match with the outer edge of your patch.

4. Set the machine to zigzag stitch when sewing your patches. Reduce the length and width of the stitch to the narrowest. This will ensure the thread goes over and through the patch.

5. With your sewing machine, go over the edges of the patch one more time. The patch needs to be secured in place. With the zigzag stitches, go over the edges but this time slowly. The end result will look clean and satisfying.
